How to Party in the Age of…Space Travel
Now that we’re all (dinosaur) astronauts, with our homes like the International Space Station and our children and pets as our “coworkers,” many of us have some experience partying virtually.
Others are more responsible and have worked harder, partied less. This post is for you.
Normally, I’m a straight-laced, hardworking person, but in the name of helping all of you, I’ve recently taken to online parties, just to gather some info. ; )
Here’s a few tips I’ve picked up:
Wear something colorful. Blue is always a nice choice for a baby shower (as is pink, of course), but any color will do. Are you required to wear something colorful? Of course not. But we will talk about your lack of community spirit if you don’t.
Set up your phone or computer somewhere well-lit and comfortable and have a table nearby. You’ll need somewhere to put your snacks and any party pieces, of course. And if you’re having trouble with how to get the best video, check out our video on videoing here! I hate to be nepotistic, but it’s pretty awesome.
Prepare a few minutes before the party is set to start. Unpack your party pack (more on that later). Gather your snacks and drinks. Set up party decor and any props (check out the video for more info on that). Now settle in and get comfortable. It’s going to be a bit chaotic, but it’s time to have some fun!
Log into the Zoom meeting. If you’ve never done that before, it’s pretty easy after you get the hang of it. A video on how to do it will be posted next Friday.
